The island of Ireland is surrounded by one of its greatest natural resources – the sea. Ireland’s clean, unpolluted waters are rich in aquatic life and form an exceptional environment for the production of seafood. 

Each year, Ireland exports an estimated €645mn worth of seafood to more than 70 markets around the world. Species exported included pelagic fish, shellfish and white fish with mackerel, herring, horse mackerel, haddock, whiting, mussels, prawns and brown crab amongst the most commonly produced species.
