Using ingredients from Wicklow, Barr an Uisce is currently laying down its own whiskey, which will mature in a number of years. The Irish words “Barr an Uisce” literal English translation is “above the water”. It is also the Irish name given to Barraniskey, which is a town land set in the heart of County Wicklow, on the East Coast of Ireland. The Irish word “Uisce” or water in English, was used during the time Irish monks first distilled what we now know to be whiskey. They called it “Uisce Beatha” meaning Water of Life. Water from County Wicklow, the Garden of Ireland, is used to cut Barr an Uisce Whiskeys. Barr an Uisce Irish whiskeys have been highly appreciated by international critics and spirits awards. We have won many accolades for our Whiskeys including being named "Favourite Irish whiskey" by The New York Times. Barr an Uisce is a member of Origin Green and the Irish Whiskey Association.
