Barr an Uisce is a small craft Irish Whiskey company that produce memorable Irish Whiskeys that celebrates the native, modern Irish spirit. Barr an Uisce are the only Irish whiskey using family well water from county Wicklow to cut their Whiskeys from cask strength to bottle strength. Since its launch in 2016, the company has won many international awards, including being named 'Favourite Irish Whiskey' by The New York Times. Using ingredients from Wicklow, Barr an Uisce is currently laying down its own whiskey, which will mature in a number of years. The Irish words “Barr an Uisce” literal English translation is “above the water”. It is also the Irish name given to Barraniskey, which is a town land set in the heart of County Wicklow, on the East Coast of Ireland. The Irish word “Uisce” or water in English, was used during the time Irish monks first distilled what we now know to be whiskey. They called it “Uisce Beatha” meaning Water of Life. Water from County Wicklow, the Garden of Ireland, is used to cut Barr an Uisce Whiskeys. Barr an Uisce Irish whiskeys have been highly appreciated by international critics and spirits awards. We have won many accolades for our Whiskeys including being named "Favourite Irish whiskey" by The New York Times. Barr an Uisce is a member of Origin Green and the Irish Whiskey Association.
