West-Bake is an award-winning bakery and was established by the Brogan family in 1973. The company’s main production was initially in breads, expanding into cakes and confectionary in the last 15 years, before finally deciding to enter the lucrative muffin market in the UK. In 2007 with loan finance from the WDC along with bank and private sector investment, the company installed the Auto Bake plant system. It is the only one of its size in Europe and allows the company to supply most of the major supermarket chains in Ireland and the UK. West-Bake employs over 100 people in the small rural town of Glenamaddy in East Galway.
