Carbery is a leading global manufacturer of specialty and nutritional dairy ingredients as well as flavours and cheeses.

Carbery's nutrition business pioneers, manufactures and markets a comprehensive range of advanced whey proteins for the infant, sport, clinical nutrition, and mainstream food and beverage markets.

Carbery invests in pioneering research on the bioactivity of dairy peptides to expand their market-leading Optipep® whey protein hydrolysate range. This innovation brings valuable new insight into the role of hydrolysed dairy proteins in improving muscle health, mobility, insulin sensitivity and appetite control.

Sustainability

•Promoting and supporting enhanced biodiversity both in the company’s production facilities and on the farms of its suppliers has been a key priority of Carbery.
•Several biodiversity initiatives are on site, including the Carbery Millennium project, where over two acres of oak trees and 20 bird boxes were planted in an adjacent field to its Ballineen facility.
•At Carbery’s Ballineen facility, a walled garden on-site underwent considerable work in 2019 to restore it to a haven of biodiversity and wildlife.
•Carbery has also long supported biodiversity initiatives on farms, which included an ecological assessment being carried out on 50 Carbery Greener Dairy farms.
•This illustrated that the farms had on average 10–15% semi-natural habitat cover which is significantly greater than the European average of 5%.
•To date, the Carbery Trees initiative has seen over 45,000 native trees planted all over West Cork.
