Becoming Origin green certified
From the very beginning, The Studio Coffee Roasters was built on sustainability — long before recyclable packaging ever came into the picture. We’ve always partnered with micro-farmers around the world — smallholders who, by necessity, farm sustainably. They can’t afford chemical fertilisers or pesticides, and they certainly can’t pay for expensive certifications. They work the land much like Irish farmers did in the 1940s and ’50s — naturally, carefully, and with respect for the soil.
As we grew, we wanted our packaging to live up to those same values.
In the past, we used plastic bottles for cold brew, plastic capsules, and mixed-material pouches. But we decided to change that.
Today, our pouches are 100 percent recyclable, our capsules are aluminium, and our cold brew comes in a glass flint bottle with a natural cork. Because we’ve looked beyond packaging too — adopting solar energy to heat our water, and turning coffee chaff from waste into compost that now feeds our own vegetables. So our coffee quite literally goes full circle — from the soil, back to the soil.
